In Atlanta, volunteers work tirelessly behind the scenes to care for animals. Animal shelter volunteers save the lives of countless dogs every day, and licensed rehabbers take in injured and orphaned animals, rehabilitate them, and then return them to the wild. Ruby’s Rescues is a nonprofit organization that generates revenue via donations and eBay sales in order to purchase the supplies these volunteers need to fulfill their mission. Food, bedding, replacement formula, crates and cages are just a few items volunteers spend their own money to purchase. Imagine a nonprofit organization that might lighten the financial load for these volunteers! Ruby’s Rescues aims to support these volunteers right now as well as in the future. That is why we invest 50% of every dollar we make in a trust fund. This fund will never be touched, and our hope is that it will someday deliver dividends that will continue to support our volunteers for years to come.

Ruby's Rescues is the culmination of a lifelong dream. I have loved squirrels as long as I can remember, and we have had numerous family pets over the years. In 2015, a baby squirrel washed out of one of our downspouts in the back yard, and I fell quickly head over heels for the furry little creature. Everything else just seemed to fall into place after we rescued Rue. While she now lives in the trees, new orphaned babies show up each year. I feel so blessed that I am able to help out when babies have lost their Mom. Our family just keeps growing, which has transformed our back yard into a version of Cinderella's oasis. ::laugh::

In 2020, I decided to formalize my hobby. I studied, passed my test to become a wildlife rehabber, and simultanously began fostering dogs for Lifeline Animal Project. Yes, my house is crazy. But the chaos saves me every day. I realized very quickly, though, that my hobby required more financial support than our monthly cash flow allowed, so I reserved the name Ruby's Rescues and incorporated my nonprofit.

I stuggled, though, because I had a difficult time asking others to donate their hard-earned money so that I might be able to raise baby squirrels and foster dogs. I needed to find a way to find money where no money existed before. I started by asking for donations of household goods and then selling them online. While it does not fully fund my entire operation, it does help to lessen the financial burden, and it allows me to come to the aid of others in need.

Thank you. If you have already donated your time or goods, I want you to know how much I appreciate you. If you are interested in helping, just reach out any time! Oh, and if you are in need of my help, please call me. If nothing else, I can help you sell some of your own items to bring some cash to your household. I absolutely love what I do, so no day is ever a work day.
